Just wanted to say thank you for this. I've spent the last three days trying to find a local option for this. I tried many different models and version. Most wouldn't even run. I got one variation of piper to run, but it took several minutes to generate a single sentence. Most of the macOS compatible versions ran into some variation of error, missing dependencies, missing files, incorrect calls, or whatever else. Even switching the python version with pyenv was no help. Here I come along and find this and it works out of the gate. Not the fastest option, but better than paying a small fortune to elevenlabs. (Macbook Air M2 8Gb, btw.)
